Simon Bolivar International Maiquetia Airport (SVMI)

Description

Simon Bolivar International Airport or Maiquetia International Airport (ICAO: SVMI) is an international airport located in Maiquetia, Vargas, Venezuela about 13 mi from downtown Caracas, the capital of the country. Simply called Maiquetia by the local population, it is the main international air passenger gateway to Venezuela among the twelve international airports in the country. It handles flights to destinations in the Americas, the Caribbean and some in Europe. A lot of international companies abandonned routes to/from Maiquetia due to the economical and political crisis in place in the country, imposed by the dictatorship of the unfamous Nicolas Maduro and its cuban-oriented comunist regime. NOTE: There is conflict between both runways at their eastern end side due to their proximity. Runway 09/27 should be removed, considering 10/28 the main runway of the airport.
