Eglin Air Force Base - Valparaiso (KVPS)

Description

Eglin Air Force Base (ICAO: KVPS) is a US Air Force base located approximately 3 miles (4.8 kilometres) southwest of Valparaiso, Florida in Okaloosa County. The host unit at Eglin is the 96th Test Wing. The 96 TW is the test and evaluation center for Air Force air-delivered weapons, navigation and guidance systems, Command and Control systems, and Air Force Special Operations Command systems. Eglin AFB was established in 1935 as the Valparaiso Bombing and Gunnery Base. It is named in honor of Lieutenant Colonel Frederick I. Eglin (1891-1937), who was killed in a crash of his Northrop A-17 attack aircraft on a flight from Langley to Maxwell Field, Alabama (from Wikipedia) The above description has been prepared by IPACS forum user edpatino. Bespoke Conversion

Standard airports in FSCloudPort are created using a 'pre-generated best-fit' method. Runways are not the exact width or length but the closest available from a pre-generated library. Being independent models with conflicting terrain flattening they are also unable to cross over without conflicts.

This airport is different. A bespoke conversion has been performed offline and uploaded so that runways are the exact dimensions and the integrated model supports crossing runways.

Runways

12 / 304276m x 90m
1 / 193452m x 89m
