Meghauli Airport (VNMG)

Description

Meghauli Airport (IATA: MEY, ICAO: VNMG) is an airport in Meghauli serving Chitwan National Park and Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chitwan district of Province No. 3 in southern Nepal. The airfield was built in 1961, when Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip visited Chitwan. In 1982, the first Elephant polo world cup was played on the airfield. After being closed for several years, the airport reopened in 2016 for charter operations and from 2017 Nepal Airlines carried out scheduled operations again. The airport resides at an elevation of 600 feet (183 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway which is 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) in length.
