Pangborn Memorial Airport (KEAT)

Description

Pangborn Memorial Airport is a public use airport in Douglas County, Washington, United States. It is located four nautical miles (7 km) east of the central business district of Wenatchee, a city in Chelan County. The airport is owned by the Ports of Chelan and Douglas Counties. Pangborn Memorial Airport is named for Clyde Pangborn, in 1931 became the first pilot to fly non-stop across the Pacific Ocean. Taking off from Misawa, Aomori, Japan with an intended destination of Seattle, he and his co-pilot, Hugh Herndon Jr., instead landed in Wenatchee. The airport is mostly used for general aviation, but is currently served by one commercial airline (Horizon Air), offering in-state service. SeaPort Airlines formerly served the airport, ending their scheduled service in the winter of 2012. The above description has been prepared by IPACS forum user moxeetwo.
